Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
Organization Profile
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), community organizations host free tax clinics where volunteers file tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.

Across all of Nova Scotia. The East Hants clinic is usually hosted at the Lloyd E. Matheson Centre in Elmsdale.

Corridor Minor Baseball Association
Organization Profile
Corridor Minor Baseball Association is committed to ensuring baseball is offered to ALL youth in the East Hants Corridor area. Since its inception in 2015 the numbers have steadily increased to well over 200 youth every summer. Our success of growing the sport has resulted in increased demands on our volunteer base at all levels; Executive, coaches, Assistant coaches, parent volunteers, tournament chairs etc.

E.H. Horne School Preservation Society
Organization Profile
The EH Horne School Preservation Society operates the EH Horne School building which is home to a number of tenants including East Hants Childcare Centre, RSI DanceWorks, as well as the Enfield Heritage Centre Association. The Society provides short-and long-term space to local non-profit groups as well as bursaries to students entering post- secondary education. The Society has been operating this building for more than 20 years, providing an important service to the community and maintaining the heritage of the former school.

Fire Departments in East Hants are volunteer based. Volunteers dedicate their time to train, learn and grow as a member of the Fire Service while responding to emergency calls both within their own community as well as supporting neighbouring communities.
All training is provided at no cost and there are opportunities to take part in other training certifications.

Our association manages the network of trails that were constructed as part of the Long Lake development in East Uniacke. The trails are wooden provide quiet respite within the community. We value this resource and are determined to expand and maintain our trails network as the community grows around it.

Volunteer Fire Departments

Elmsdale Fire & Emergency Services
Organization Profile
Established in 1966, we have been serving the community and surrounding areas for over 50 years. We currently have a total membership of 40+ members, who respond to various medical, motor vehicle and fire related emergencies.
Our apparatus consists of a Rescue Pumper, a 2000 gallon Tanker, a Rescue vehicle and a 4×4 Light Rescue/Medical Response vehicle. We also have Thermal Imaging capability, as well as personnel trained in Ice Water Rescue and Motor Vehicle Extrication using “Hurst”© equipment.
We have mutual aid agreements with surrounding volunteer departments including Lantz, Nine Mile River, Dutch Settlement, Shubenacadie, Stewiacke and Enfield.
Training sessions take place on Wednesday evenings throughout the year beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monthly business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. We have many on site training tools including our EFES Trainer.
