East Hants Council Adopts Secondary Planning Strategy for Mount Uniacke and Lakelands
East Hants Council has adopted a new secondary planning strategy for the Mount Uniacke and Lakelands areas. This strategy, known as the Uniacke Secondary Planning Strategy (SPS), received official approval in April 2025.
The updates proposed in the Uniacke SPS will be incorporated during the 2026 review of the East Hants Official Community Plan.
Thank you to everyone who participated by completing the Uniacke SPS survey or attending the public meeting. There will be additional opportunities for community input during the 2026 Plan Review process.
A secondary plan is a component of the Official Community Plan. It focuses on areas where significant growth or change is expected or encouraged and outlines detailed land use policies and regulations for those areas.
An online public survey for the Uniacke Secondary Planning Strategy was undertaken from January 23 to February 23, 2024. The purpose of the survey was to help determine how residents of the Uniacke area would like to see their community grow.
There were 470 responses from residents, which is over 10% of the population in the study area. Resident ages ranged from 18 to over 65.
