Join the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee

The Committee reviews issues related to water protection and provides advice and recommendations to Council. Its role is to help ensure decisions about water quality, conservation, and related policies are informed, responsible, and support the community.
We are currently seeking the following members for a 3-year term:
- Customer of the Water Utility within the Regional Water Supply System.
- Representative from Shubenacadie Watershed Environmental Protection Society (SWEPS) or an equivalent association as determined by the East Hants Nominating Committee.
- Resident living within the East Hants portion of the Near Zone of the Grand Lake watershed

Background Information
The Source Water Protection Committee is made up of a mix of Council members and community representatives.
It includes:
- One Councillor who serves as Chair
- One Councillor who serves as Vice-Chair
- One customer from the Regional Water Supply System
- One customer from the Shubenacadie Aquifer Water Supply System
- One representative from the Shubenacadie Watershed Environmental Protection Society (or a similar group chosen by the East Hants Nominating Committee)
- One person from the local agricultural (farming) community in East Hants who has an interest in the water supply
- One resident who lives in the East Hants portion of the Near Zone of the Grand Lake watershed
Together, the committee brings both Council leadership and community perspectives to water protection decisions.
