East Hants Sells Property to Sipekne’katik Band
March 1, 2018
East Hants Municipal Council and Sipekne’katik have closed the sale of property in Shubenacadie for $1 million. Located near Exit 10, Highway 102 in Shubenacadie, the Snides Lake property consists of five parcels of land with a total acreage of approximately 235 acres.
In June 2017, East Hants Municipal Council deemed the Snides Lake property surplus to the needs of the Municipality and placed the Snides Lake property for sale on the open market.
Future development of the land will be decided by Sipekne’katik.
Sipekne’katik is a Mi’kmaq Band in Nova Scotia with over 2,600 members throughout Mi’kma’ki and beyond. Sipekne’katik represents itself in all consultation and negotiation matters that concern Sipekne’katik.
