Environmental Engineering Technician

This role coordinates and implements the Municipality’s Source Water Protection Plans, develops and implements monitoring plans, and manages the Cross Connection Control Program.  This role collects, analyzes, and reports on sampling data related to water and wastewater, ensuring the Municipality is meeting regulatory requirements and providing recommendations as appropriate.

This role also develops and promotes education for the public around water and wastewater best practices, and participates in environmental-related projects.

What you can offer:

  • You have completed a two-year certificate in Environmental Engineering Technology (Water Resources) or a related field, or have a related combination of education and experience.
  • You have the ability to understand and interpret regulations and legislation, and are comfortable providing recommendations based on regulatory requirements.
  • You are comfortable working outside collecting samples, sometimes in poor weather conditions.
  • You are able to build positive relationships with team members, other internal departments, the public, and external partners. i.e. Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change.
  • You are data driven, and enjoy collecting and analyzing data, and providing recommendations.
  • You are a great report-writer, and have experience writing reports to meet regulatory compliance.
  • You are comfortable and enjoy providing advice and education to team members, Committee members, groups, and members of the public.

Annual salary: $53,746.00 — $67,183.00
