The works produced by the artisans and crafters of East Hants are found around our region in galleries, in shops and boutiques and in museums and gift shops.

There are many cultural and artistic experiences waiting to be discovered. Creative outlets for the residents and visitors in East Hants include the following art galleries and studios:

Art Gallery 215

Showcasing all artistic Mediums, including Jewelry, Fibre Art, Iron Work, Scrimshaw, Photography, Woodturning, Rug Hooking/Design, Stone, Glass, Sculpture and Paintings (oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels).

Inklings in Wood

Artistic wood turner, Ben McLellan, operates his shop and studio in the picturesque Glooscap Trail, within the village of Maitland. Inklings in Wood is open to the public to see the process of woodturning. from conception to finish.

Jennifer Marlow, Woodcarver

The tradition of wood carving holds numerous attractions for Jennifer Marlow. It embraces heritage, environment, and art while demanding a cooperation and trust between hand and eye, intricately linking the tactile with the aesthetic. Marlow has her workshop in Milford.

Shubenacadie Tinsmith Museum

The Shubenacadie Tinsmith Museum, located in Shubenacadie, is more than just a great place to visit. It’s also home to a multi-room gift shop packed full of locally crafted items. Stop by and take home a piece of Nova Scotia.

Beyond the Wharf Artisans

Stroll through the historic village of Maitland at the mouth of the Shubenacadie River and you’ll find Beyond the Wharf Artisans. This quaint craft shop is home to locally made arts and crafts including jewelry, textiles, tasty treats, and more. While there, take a walk out onto the wharf and see the power of the Bay of Fundy tides.
