About the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Recently announced by the Federal government, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity for Canadians to recognize and commemorate the tragic history of residential schools and the intergenerational trauma caused to First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities. It is also a day to honour survivors of the Canadian residential school system, their families, and communities who continue to bear the impacts of these tragedies. We encourage anyone who is able to use the day to learn about and reflect upon the history of residential schools.

The Every Child Matters flag will fly outside the Lloyd E. Matheson Centre Municipal building, until October 4, 2021.
