Municipal Trails Open

The Province has lifted restrictions on travel and activities in the woods in all areas except for Shelburne County and anywhere evacuation orders are in place, effective 12:01 a.m., Monday, June 5. Activities that are now permitted include hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods. The province-wide burn ban is still in place until June 25, 2023, or until conditions allow it to be lifted. The fine for violating the ban is $25,000.

In alignment with this, Municipal tourism sites, parks, playgrounds and green spaces, including wooded areas or trails within these parks, are now open. This includes trail systems in residential areas, including Commerce Park, Garden Meadows, McKeen Walkway, Sherwood Park and MacInnis Trail.

Some trail systems within East Hants are owned and operated by non-profit groups. Many of these groups are following Provincial directives, but please confirm and respect their reopening decisions before accessing their trails.
