Service Changes

Curbside Collections
  • Currently no interruptions
  • Collections limits are doubled for tree and yard waste for the week of September 26-30. Residents may put out:
    • 1 green cart
    • 12 cardboard boxes or paper bags of leaf materials
    • 10 bundles of brush (2ftx2ftx4ft)
East Hants is waiving tipping fees at the Waste Management Centre for tree and yard waste until end of day on Saturday, October 1. More details here.

Walton Fire Hall – open 7 a.m. until dark | Directions

Power Outages

To report downed power lines, report outages and get estimated restoration times, go to outagemap.nspower.ca or call Nova Scotia Power at 1-877-428-6004.

Non-Emergency Road Issues

The majority of roads in the municipality are owned and maintained by the Province of Nova Scotia. Please refer to this list to see which roads are maintained by the Municipality of East Hants. All other roads are maintained by the Province.

If your road is municipal, please contact roads@easthants.ca to report any issues.

Any questions or concerns regarding maintenance for any roads not maintained by the Municipality should be directed to Nova Scotia Department of Public Works.
