Municipal Infrastructure Project
Government is supporting a municipal infrastructure project in Shubenacadie.
(October 29, 2015) Hants East MLA Margaret Miller, on behalf of Municipal Affairs Minister Zach Churchill, announced today, Oct. 29, the Municipality of East Hants received $74,850 under the Provincial Capital Assistance Program for a Shubenacadie water distribution system condition assessment.
“The cost of undertaking water and wastewater projects can place substantial costs on municipal governments and their citizens,” said Miller. “I am pleased that our government is supporting a project in Shubenacadie that will help us build a healthier and stronger community.”
“It’s great to have the province of Nova Scotia as a partner for the Shubenacadie Water Distribution Condition Assessment project in East Hants,” said Warden Jim Smith. “The results of this project will enable the planning of both short term maintenance and that of long term capital replacement. This is strategic work focused on Infrastructure Sustainability to prepare East Hants for the future.”
Funding under the program is limited and ranked according to specific criteria. Projects that eliminate serious environmental and health problems get priority.
