Notice: Construction this fall on Highway 214 and Elmsdale Road between Park Road and the Shubenacadie River
The Province of Nova Scotia recently announced plans to pave Highway 214 and Elmsdale Road between Park Road and the Shubenacadie River. Although this was set to happen after the completion of the Lantz interchange, construction will now take place much sooner due to newly announced economic stimulus funding.
Also happening this fall, the Municipality will start work to increase much-needed wastewater capacity in the area, which includes installing a buried pipe along portions of Highway 214.
It is anticipated that the pipe installation by the Municipality will take place first, then paving the road will be completed by the Province. Altogether, construction work will run from early October through mid-November
We’ll post information updates as they becomes available both on this website page and to our municipal Facebook page. We will work together with the Province, as we have over the past several years, to minimize disruption to the public.
Most of the work will take place at night, between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am, to minimize disruption to traffic. Sidewalks in the work areas on Highway 214 will be closed at that time; however, we expect to have the sidewalks passable on foot during the daytime.
For questions concerning the road paving, please contact the Provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal at the Province at 1-800-670-4357 or email at TIR-OCC@novascotia.ca
