Become a Member of the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee

The Municipality of East Hants is currently looking for individuals to join the committee which develops and maintains a Source Water Protection Plan, while providing the Municipality with advice on matters concerning land-use, water quality and levels/flows in the Source Water Protection areas, which include areas within the Shubenacadie and Grand Lake watersheds.
The Source Water Protection Advisory Committee voting members are made up of two (2) Councillors and five (5) members of the public. Other non-voting members consist of six (6) technical representatives. The Committee meets at least twice a year for approximately two hours during the evening at the Lloyd E. Matheson Centre, Elmsdale, unless otherwise specified. The term for this position is three years.
We are looking to meet the following criteria;
- Customer of the Water Utility within the Shubenacadie Aquifer Water Supply System.
- Representative from Shubenacadie Watershed Environmental Protection Society (SWEPS) or an equivalent association as determined by the East Hants Nominating Committee.
- Representative working in the Agriculture Sector (Farming Community) within East Hants and has a stake in the Water Supply.
- Resident living within the East Hants portion of the Near Zone of the Grand Lake watershed.
