Municipal Tax Assistance Program
Each year, as part of the Municipal Tax Assistance Program, the Council sets a general exemption rate in accordance with Section 69 of the Municipal Government Act.
This exemption applies to taxpayers in the Municipality whose household taxable income does not exceed the limits set by Council, as outlined below.
**Note that taxable income is less than total income. Many deductions such as child care, RRSP and union dues are deducted to calculate taxable income. You may qualify and not know it.

|1 adult||$18 876|
|2 adults||$23 622|
|1 adult + 1 child||$35 875|
|3 persons||$44 154|
|4 persons||$53 537|
|5 persons||$60 712|
|6+ persons||$68 439|
For the 2017/2018 taxation year, the exemption is a minimum of $216.00 or up to 20% of the applicant’s annual tax bill, whichever is the greater amount (based on a Council approved formula).
