Casual Afterschool Program Staff

Location: Various locations within East Hants

As part of our Pitch-A-program initiative, The Municipality of East Hants is seeking applications for program instructors to provide a diverse range of recreation opportunities within the community. We are looking for casual Recreation Program Staff to deliver After School Programming for youth in grades 6-8. Programming will be recreation based with a focus on healthy living.

Responsibilities: Recreation Program Staff design and lead after school programming, including supervising participants in all activities, and other related administrative duties. Recreation Program Staff are reliable, enthusiastic, self-starters, responsible for program set up and ensuring the program space is suitable, tidy and barrier free for participants.

Qualifications:
• Experience working with, planning and leading recreation programming for children and youth in a recreational setting preferred
• Must have strong understanding of child development
• Strong organization, communication, problem solving and conflict management skills required
• Current Emergency First Aid/CPR-C, or willingness to obtain required
• High Five Training an asset
• Clean and current child abuse registry and criminal record checks required

Preference will be given to candidates pursuing studies in Recreation, Education or related field.

Programs will be offered in schools or community halls in the Hants North and Corridor areas. Please specify location(s) of interest in application.

Hours of work: 6-15 hours/week during afterschool period
Hourly rate: $14.10/hour
