Small and medium sized companies (SMEs) make up 97.4% of all businesses in Nova Scotia.  We have identified three incentive programs to help launch your small business into the next phase: NSBI’s Productivity and Innovation Voucher Program, Small Business Development Program & Export Growth Program.

Productivity and Innovation Voucher Program

Feel like you could improve productivity and boost innovation for your business?

The Productivity and Innovation Voucher Program helps small and medium sized companies access direct assistance to help make their business more productive and innovative. The program lets businesses seek out expertise within post-secondary institutions to improve productivity, develop a new product, service, or process, and create growth. This is a great opportunity for businesses in a growth stage to have access to the endless academic resources in Nova Scotia, such as Acadia, Dalhousie, Mount St. Vincent, and more.

Small Business Development Program

Looking to reach new markets but do not have the resources to hire a consultant?

The Small Business Development Program supports Nova Scotia businesses looking to increase their export capacity. The program provides financial incentives on projects that assist businesses to grow current exports or participate in a global supply chain by providing access to:

  • Research expertise;
  • Expertise to advance productivity and competitiveness;
  • Expertise to improve capacity; and
  • Expertise to remove barriers on exporting

Export Growth Program

Looking to market your products / services outside of Nova Scotia but struggling finding resources?

The Export Growth Program supports businesses wanting to increase their exports outside of Nova Scotia, either within Canada or internationally. The program assists companies in overcoming export barriers, specifically the following:

  • Travel to market support
    • Visiting a client, potential partner, or investor in another market.
    • Inviting a foreign client and/or potential partner to visit the Nova Scotia operation.
  • Trade show/conference costs mitigation
    • Funding floor space, conference fees, travel, and accommodation costs.
