Steps are taken by the Municipality to enforce Solid Waste Management programs. Both Municipal Staff and waste haulers continue to conduct waste audits throughout East Hants. These audits consist of random checks of curbside garbage bags, recycleable bags and green carts.
Should your material be inspected and a violation of Provincial or Municipal Regulations is found, a yellow "Warning Notice" sticker will be left behind to explain the problem. Should there continue to be violations, the next step is to leave a red "Refusal Notice" sticker indicating that the material has been rejected. If this happens, please review the information in the Separation Guide and resort your waste material before putting it curbside for the next collection.
