Recycling

A maximum of 6 bags of recyclables in blue or clear standard size bags (about 1 meter long when empty) may be placed curbside by 7:00 am for collection. Newspapers may be placed in grocery bags. All recyclables must be outside the garbage bin for collection. Businesses have a maximum of 12 bags of recycling per collection period.

Two bags are needed. Bag 1 is for containers including plastic with a recycling symbol, glass food jars, tin and alumimum cans, foil pie plates, milk cartons, etc. All material must be clean and dry with lids removed. Bag 2 is for paper products and may include flyers, magazines, newspapers, phone books, letters, Tim's trays, paper egg cartons, boxboard (cracker and cereal boxes). All material must be clean and dry. Wet paper should be placed in your green organics bin.

Soft cover books and the pages from hard cover books go in your blue bag. The covers from hard cover books must be placed in garbage. Cardboard must be cut or folded and tied into bundles no larger than 1ft X 2ft X 3ft. One bundle of cardboard equals one blue bag where limits are concerned.

On your regular recycling day you may also place one (1) appliance curbside for collection. This can include a diswasher, water heater, stove, microwave, washer, dryer, fridge or freezer. It is not necessary to have CFC gases removed from fridges or freezers. Our Waste Management Centre staff have been trained to do this.

Also, you may place a maximum of one television or computer unit and one box (approximately 1ft X 1ft X 2ft) of mice, cables, keyboards, etc. curbside for collection on your regular recycling day.

If your material has been missed by the waste collection staff, please contact the Collections Hotline at 1-877-902-4844.
