There are several ways to safely dispose of paint in East Hants. If you have an empty paint can or one that has very little paint left in it, leave it open and allow it to dry. When dry, it can be placed (lid off) in your regular garbage.

Full or partly full paint cans can be disposed of at the local Enviro-Depots. Paint is also accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste events held in East Hants each year. There is no charge for these services. Paint that is collected is shipped to a facility in Springhill, Nova Scotia where it is recycled into new paint.

When buying paint, remember to

• buy only the amount of paint that you need
• use all the paint you buy
• dispose of leftover paint safely
