Even a small amount of oil which is not disposed of properly and safely can cause serious environmental damage. Waste oil can be recycled in Nova Scotia.
Any retailer who sells motor oil, like a service station or hardware store, must either accept used oil or provide a collection depot within 5 kilometers of their business. There is no fee for this service.
Waste oil can also be held over for the Household Hazardous Waste events that are held in East Hants every year, budget permitting.
