Saving lives, doing CPR, blowing
whistles --- welcome to the life of a lifeguard.
As children are finding out, saving lives, whether
your own or someone else's is serious work. But
learning how to do it can be a lot of fun. The purpose
of the East Hants Junior Lifeguard Club is to have
fun, and learn the skills needed to be effective,
safe, mindful lifesavers in and around the water.
Our club goals are :
· Train future lifeguards.
· Get fit, make friends and have a whole
lot of fun.
· Develop a knowledge of first aid and CPR
techniques.
· Challenge themselves to aim for personal
best.
· To learn about lifesaving and lifeguarding.
The East Hants Junior Lifeguard Program is designing
to target youth between the ages of 10 and 16, providing
instruction in rescue techniques, fitness skills,
first aid and CPR. The participants should already
know how to swim and want to learn lifeguarding
skills. The East Hants Junior Lifeguard Program
is divided into two age group levels as follows:
Junior Lifeguard I - Ages 10-13 and have
intermediate swimming ability.
Junior Lifeguard II - Ages 13-16 and hold
a Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion Award. |
