The Medical Unit cares for patients with general medical conditions. The unit is located on the 4th floor.
The Geriatric Inpatient Team provides care to inpatients that experience functional, rehabilitative, or social challenges. The team involves registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, physicians and others. Individuals who benefit from the service and care of the Geriatric Inpatient Team include those with the following conditions: arthritis, Parkinson, stroke, amputations, orthopedic surgery, recent decline in health and ability to cope at home, dementia, unexplained falls and complex discharge planning. Public Health Dental Hygienists work with children, parents, teachers, school administrators, community groups and other public health staff to promote long-term oral health.
Public Health Dental Hygienists are present at school registration to provide information to parents and to assess the oral health of children. In addition to being an educational resource, they manage weekly fluoride mouth rinse programs in schools where children are at high risk for dental decay.
