This is a publication the Recreation and Culture Department has put together to give you 'one stop shopping' for your recreation and cultural needs.

In this publication you will find community groups, physical activity opportunities, trails to hike and basic information about the Districts of East Hants.

We hope you enjoy our publication.  It is our hope to make this a bi-annual magazine.  If you would like to contribute, please contact recreation@easthants.ca.  This is free to not-for-profit organizations.  Profit organizations are welcome to contact us re purchasing ad space.

Spring Auction to be held April 29 at the Selma School Community Building, Selma (Highway 215) viewing at 9 a.m., Auction to start at 10 a.m.

Lunches - Come for one, or come to all - held at the Gallery 215 (Selma) - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - July 1, 15 and 29; August 12, 26; September 2, 16, and 30; October 14.

Plant and Book Sale/Bake Sale - at the Dawson Dowell Park building in Maitland (Highway 215) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 3.

Dime Auction at the Maitland Fire Hall on June 28.  Viewing 6 p.m., Auction begins at 7 p.m.

Cheesecake Party at 8855 Highway 215 from 2 - 4 p.m. on July 22.

Quilt and Rug Sale at the Dawson Dowell Park Building, Maitland 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 18 and 19.

The Colchester-East Hants Public Library has a lot to offer!

Through five branches and three satellite sites, the library provides access to books, movies, audio books and ebooks.  Our online catalogue allows you to browse our collection, place holds and request titles to be picked up at the branch closest to you.  You can also access ebooks through our new downloadable service.

But that’s not all…many of our branches offer free programs!   Be sure to check out our site at www.lovemylibrary.ca and our Facebook for information. Many branches  periodically offer computer basics training too, so be sure to check with your local branch for availability.

Upcoming Events

"Afternoon Musical Jam /Open Mic. Session"... 

The United Church in Shubenacadie is hosting an afternoon musical jam/open mic. session at Civic # 2869 Hwy. #2. Held the Second Tuesday of Each Month.

Next Session: Feb. 14th. 2012 Starting @ 1:30 p.m

Persons with all levels musical talents, (beginner to professional) and ALL observers are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Come join in the fun, and enjoy the afternoon.. A freewill offering for the church will gratefully be accepted.  For additional information call 758-2797.

Recreational Gymnastics/Dance Classes -

2012 Central Woodland Conference

Full day conferences; hear experts and woodland owners talk about woodland issues.  Learn about resources that can help you better understand and manage woodland sustainably, for various objectives such as harvesting timber, providing wildlife habitat, exploring non timber forest products, and maintaining forest health.  Pre-register to win a GPS, plus, the grand prize to give away at the end of the day is a chain saw!
