4. Where do I get information on the Waste Management Centre (i.e., landfill)?

In the Municipality of East Hants, we take Solid Waste Management very seriously. We are proud to have one of the best diversion rates in Nova Scotia. East Hants was named Municipality of the Year (2005) by RRFB Nova Scotia for our environmental achievements.

Call the Collections Hotline at 1-877-902-4844 if you have questions about:

• Waste collection services ("Why hasn't my waste been picked up yet?")
• Why you have received a sticker on your material

Call the Solid Waste Hotline at 1-888-873-3332 if you:

• Have questions about how to sort waste/recyclables
• Want details on special collections or events
• To request educational resources or a visit from Municipal staff
• To report green cart damage or request a green cart
• Have not received a timely response from the waste hauler

The Municipality owns and operates the East Hants Waste Management Centre, formerly the Georgefield Landfill Site.  The Centre offers the following:

• Waste & Recyclables Transfer Station
• Organics Transfer Station
• Residential HHW depot
• Construction & Demo Disposal
• ACES Depot Drop-off (electronic waste)
• Metal Pile
• Tire Pile

Monday - Friday              8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Saturday                        8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
